The 4th of July post in which we talk about books with hot military men

Here in the states we are busy celebrating our independence today with bbq's and later fireworks, I wanted to in my way send a shout out to all our service men and women who put themselves in harms way to keep our independence. All that being said my way turns out to be sharing with you great books that have members of the armed forces as characters :O)

Lets get started shall we...

Black Knights Inc series by Julie Ann Walker

Black Knights Inc.--Behind the facade of their tricked-out motorcycle shop is an elite special ops team assigned the jobs too hot for anyone else to handle.

KGI series by Maya Banks

The Kelly Group International (KGI): A super elite, top secret, family-run business.

Qualifications: High intelligence, rock hard body, military background.

Mission: Hostage/kidnap victim recovery. Intelligence gathering. Handling jobs the US government can’t…

Elite Ops series by Lora Leigh

The world is turning into a frightening place. A place where death and destruction can visit on any street corner, within any home. And there are those that thrive on the fear and the terror they can instigate.

The Elite Operations, ELITE OPs was created to fight against that terror. A six man force working independent of government protocol or oversight, created to do what the others can’t do. They have only one directive. Success of the mission. No matter what it takes.

Captain Jordan Malone (from Tempting SEALs) will lead the first five agents into the missions that will test their abilities, their loyalties, and their belief in themselves.

The men under his command are:

1. Noah Blake, formerly known as U.S. Navy Seal, Nathan Malone. (from Tempting SEALs)

2. Travis Caine, formerly known as MI-5 agent Travis Dermont.

3. John Vincent, formerly knows as Australian Secret Intelligence Service, Trent Daylen.

4. Nikolai Steele, formerly known as Russian Special Forces operative Michel Valeskinov.

5. Micah Sloane, formerly known as Israeli Mossad agent, David (da-veed)Abijah.

Five men and a mission that will tax their abilities, their loyalties, and their faith in everything they’ve ever known. They are the men of Elite Ops. Dead men. Men who know the darkness of betrayal, and the fire of vengeance.

Elite Force/Dark Ops series by Catherine Mann

Two series by Ms. Mann with to-die-for military heroes

I hope this has given you something to feel a little patriotic about ;O) For those here in the states enjoy your long weekend, for everyone else, Happy Thursday.

ARC Review: A SEAL's Seduction by Tawny Weber

Subject: Navy SEAL Lieutenant Blake Landon

Current Status: Two weeks of enforced leave

Mission: Distract himself in any way possible

Obstacle: A woman who tempts him to break the rules...including his own!

Navy SEAL Blake Landon (aka "Boy Scout") knows the rule book inside and out. Checked. Rechecked. But when a mission ends badly, his entire team is ordered on leave. And that's when Blake sees the tall redhead whose dark eyes suggest that the rules-especially those in bed-are made to be broken.

Scientist Alexia Lane has sex on the brain-partly for work, but mostly because she needs a man who makes her girly parts do the happy dance. Her only no-no? No military dudes. But Blake's rockin' bod promises delicious pleasures, and Alexia is halfway to sexual Nirvana before she can find out he's actually a Navy SEAL.

And where one rule is broken, more are sure to follow...

 photo Review.jpg

During his two weeks of forces R & R Blake meets and has a scorching hot weekend with a women he meets on the beach, Alexia. Both Alexia and Blake don't share with the other important information about themselves it leads to a major blow up. Can Blake learn to be more flexible? Can Alexia get past what she sees as a neglectful childhood by her military father? Can they both see that what they have is more than a weekend but destined to be forever?

I love military romance, something is just so hot about a buff guy in a uniform. I enjoyed the wild beginning to this couples relationship and the way they are brought together in the end is fantastic. I felt that some of the jumps in time in the middle of the book sort of dragged but over all this was a really fun, sexy and enjoyable read.

Excerpt:

Nick tapped on the doorframe.

"Oh, thank God," she said under her breath.

"Honey, I have the boxes you asked for," he said, sauntering in, still wearing his fire department uniform. The navy Polo shirt and cargo pants fit him to a T.

Ava had to admit he made a hunky picture. She wondered why she didn't have the same reaction to his six foot two well-muscled frame as all her girlfriends. They all loved his kind brown eyes, boyish good looks, and underwear-model body.

Her mind flashed to the day, five years ago, when she met Nick. Her roommate dragged her to a fundraiser for the local hospital's burn unit. That night firefighters stripped down to their skivvies for a good cause.

She remembered her shock and dismay when he pulled her up on the stage and kissed her senseless. When Nick realized he'd scared her spitless, he bought her a drink and apologized--then bugged her until they were best friends. He'd been kissing her and calling her honey ever since. She loved him like an annoying brother.

He dropped the boxes next to Sister Mary Elizabeth, gave her a little wink, then continued toward Ava. Nick turned her office chair and pressed his lips to hers. She waited for the tingling feelings to start, but nothing. Not even when the tip of his tongue swiped her bottom lip. Am I dead inside?

Ava leaned back and forced a smile. "Hi, honey, thank you for coming on short notice."

Nick sat on her desk, his back to the now sputtering sister and mouthed, Nothing?

Ava grinned and shook her head. "Nick, let me introduce you to Sister Mary Elizabeth."

He winked again and stood to face the fuming woman. "Nice to meet you, Sister."

Nick must have blessed her with his charming smile, because the old nun's face twisted into a small grin. It must work on every woman on the planet--except for her.

ARC NetGalley Review: A SEAL at Heart by Anne Elizabeth

Title: A SEAL at Heart
Author: Anne Elizabeth
Mass Market Paperback:
352 pages
Expected publication:
December 4th 2012
Publisher: Sourcebooks Casablanca

Blurb:
Being a SEAL means everything to Petty Officer First Class John Roaker. So when a head injury coupled with a bout of amnesia makes him undeployable, he has to find a way to heal from his wounds and recover his lost memories. Enlisting the help of beautiful psychoanalyst Laurie Smith, he discovers his unlocked memories hold a dangerous secret about his last mission that threatens his life, his country, and the woman he's starting to fall in love with.

My Review:

John Roaker (Jack as everyone calls him) is a career SEAL and when a OP he is on goes sideways and he loses not only his swim buddy, Don, but when an injury also causes him to loose a large chunk of his memory of that OP it puts his career in jeopardy.

Laurie Smith grew up with SEAL's her dad was a SEAL and when he died the man that adopted her was a SEAL. Laurie knew better than to get involved with a SEAL. Laurie also recognizes she has no social life or sex life to speak of. When Jack, the hunky SEAL, she meets at a fund raiser makes a move how can she say no.

Jack has to return his memories of the night of his head injury or he will be put on desk duty. For Jack nothing could be worse than being put on desk duty. He is sick of the group therapy sessions they are making him take as well as the chats with the physiatrist, he doesn't see any progress from working with them.
When he meets Laurie and she thinks she may be able to help him with some alternative therapy he decides to go for it, it doesn't hurt that part of this therapy involves sexy Laurie giving him a deep tissue massage.

With time running out Jack needs to find his memories so he can clear his name that a couple of team mates are smearing, get permission to be active again and know what happened so he can face his swim buddies wife and daughter. Through all of the wild ride that Jack takes to get his memories back and to heal Laurie is there to help and to fall head over heels for Jack and Jack for her.

I really liked that Ms. Elizabeth was able to keep so much of this story as accurate as possible, Things like the layout of Coronado Island and the North Island base there or the vernacular used by the SEAL's, there family and community surrounding them. The book was written in a way that it was suspenseful, romantic and funny, it drew you in with the action at the beginning and then you jump in feet first to the sexual chemistry between Jack and Laurie. I found the book to be gripping and heart warming at the same time and was able to immerse myself in the story along with the characters.

I give A SEAL at Heart my highest rating of Chocolate and Roses!

Happy Reading, Carin
