The 4th of July post in which we talk about books with hot military men

Here in the states we are busy celebrating our independence today with bbq's and later fireworks, I wanted to in my way send a shout out to all our service men and women who put themselves in harms way to keep our independence. All that being said my way turns out to be sharing with you great books that have members of the armed forces as characters :O)

Lets get started shall we...

Black Knights Inc series by Julie Ann Walker

Black Knights Inc.--Behind the facade of their tricked-out motorcycle shop is an elite special ops team assigned the jobs too hot for anyone else to handle.

KGI series by Maya Banks

Elite Ops series by Lora Leigh

The world is turning into a frightening place. A place where death and destruction can visit on any street corner, within any home. And there are those that thrive on the fear and the terror they can instigate.

The Elite Operations, ELITE OPs was created to fight against that terror. A six man force working independent of government protocol or oversight, created to do what the others can’t do. They have only one directive. Success of the mission. No matter what it takes.

Captain Jordan Malone (from Tempting SEALs) will lead the first five agents into the missions that will test their abilities, their loyalties, and their belief in themselves.

The men under his command are:

1. Noah Blake, formerly known as U.S. Navy Seal, Nathan Malone. (from Tempting SEALs)

2. Travis Caine, formerly known as MI-5 agent Travis Dermont.

3. John Vincent, formerly knows as Australian Secret Intelligence Service, Trent Daylen.

4. Nikolai Steele, formerly known as Russian Special Forces operative Michel Valeskinov.

5. Micah Sloane, formerly known as Israeli Mossad agent, David (da-veed)Abijah.

Five men and a mission that will tax their abilities, their loyalties, and their faith in everything they’ve ever known. They are the men of Elite Ops. Dead men. Men who know the darkness of betrayal, and the fire of vengeance.

Elite Force/Dark Ops series by Catherine Mann

Two series by Ms. Mann with to-die-for military heroes

I hope this has given you something to feel a little patriotic about ;O) For those here in the states enjoy your long weekend, for everyone else, Happy Thursday.

Glow in the Dark by Keira Kroft is part suspenseful thriller/part contemporary romance , its a Thrill-mance (I think I just created a new genre). Ms Kroft takes us on a roller coaster ride with the ups of Jake and Corey falling in love and the twists and turns of a stalker/killer on the loose.

Corey is a single mom who wants to make it on her own and not depend on anyone, Jake is a smokin' hot fireman that feels an instant intense attraction for Corey the first time they meet.

I had a hard time at first getting into the book, it doesn't provide a lot of the back story so I was a bit frustrated at the beginning. However like the roller coaster after you top that first hill you are in for quite a ride. I found that once I got to know who the characters were that I was able to get past the lack of history and try to figure out who the baddie is. So keep your arms and legs inside the car at all time and please remain seated until the ride has come to a complete stop and have fun!

Excerpt:
Jake slid his fingers down her arm and across her wrist. A spark lit through her. She gasped and her gaze locked with his. She made no attempt to draw away. Corey couldn’t…she didn’t want to.
“How is it?” He glanced at her scraped and bruised elbow.
Coming out of the trance, she lifted her arm and showed him the slight injury. “Oh, it’s fine.”
“I would have been over sooner, but the other guys got you, and I didn’t want you to be overwhelmed.”
Corey couldn’t conjure up a response. What he said, and how he said it, turned her knees to jelly. She felt like the high school girl who was just noticed by the popular jock. She couldn’t stop staring at his soft, dark brown eyes, even though a sensible voice in her head told her to just walk away and forget him.
“I’m very sorry. But I really have to go.” She peeked around his massive chest to the men beyond. “It was so nice meeting you guys,” she called over, waving. She turned to pick up her bike, then pushed it along and hopped on.
“Stop by anytime,” she heard Jake yell behind her.
She smiled but didn’t turn around. Glancing at her watch, she’d realized she was supposed to have started her first day of work eight minutes ago. Fear made her pedal faster.
She hoped she hadn’t lost the job already. But what if she did? How would she pay rent? How would she feed Molly?

The William S Club by Riley Banks

Looking for the Autumn bloghop?

Seven years ago, Charlotte Burke changed her name and fled Australia, swearing never to return. Now in London, working as a journalist for The Daily Telegraph, Charlotte has put her old life behind her; a life scarred by memories of her mother’s suicide and her father’s criminal past. Charlotte’s past crashes into her present when she is invited on a Harvey Incorporated press trip.

Damon Harvey has not spoken to his grandfather in years. When his grandfather contacts him out of the blue to head up a press trip for a group of handpicked journalists, Damon is automatically suspicious. The William S Club - the derogative term given to the secretive clique his grandfather created – never does anything without ulterior motives. Charlotte’s instant hatred of him, brought on by the mention of his family name, increases Damon’s sense of unease and makes him determined to find out what his family are up to.

In Sydney, Paul Baker has been released from prison with one aim in mind - to rebuild a relationship with his estranged daughter. When Paul speaks with his daughter’s boss, he discovers she is a guest of William Harvey, a man with a secret he has already killed to protect. But Paul’s attempts to find his daughter are hampered when he becomes the prime suspect in a new murder.

Despite her initial reaction to Damon Harvey, Charlotte soon finds herself falling for the handsome heir but when her friends start dying, she wonders if she was too quick to trust. Has she been sleeping with the enemy or is Damon just another victim in his family’s vicious game?

The arrival of Damon’s charming twin brother ups the ante. Will Charlotte survive or will she become the latest victim of The William S Club?

The William S Club is a suspenseful thriller with a great mystery all surrounded by enough romance, sex and action to wrap this book up as one of the better ones I have read this year.

Charlotte has had a hard time in life between being there when her mother died and her father is arrested to living in foster care with the press hounding her about her dad, that once she is old enough to be on her own she takes the name Charlotte Burke and tries to never look back. The William S club wont allow that to happen and arrange an entire press trip to get her where they want her.

Damon Harvey is the younger son by only a couple minutes but that makes all the difference in the world. While His twin is ushered into the family's secrets and dirty dealings as part of the William S club Damon is left to help hold him and his sisters together as a family after his mothers death.

With Charlotte and Damon as the main characters and enough secondary characters that you almost need a play book the story is fast paced and while the mysteries and secrets come out slowly they are explored from every angle. The story is one of murders, greed and blackmail as well as wild sex and even some love thrown in you find yourself drawn in and taken on a wild ride.

I love a good mystery/thriller and this did not disappoint, I also love a good steamy romance and The William S Club delivers on that front as well. We get in depth in the minds and personalities of all of the characters and while the author can sometimes be a bit verbose in her narrative the plot and the characters grab you and don't let go.
I enjoyed The William S Club a great deal and can't wait to see what Riley Banks comes out with next.

About the Author:
Riley Banks write sexy contemporary novels a la Jackie Collins and Sidney Sheldon.

Her background is in journalism, which shows through in the fast-paced action of her novels.

Having spent more than a decade living the pampered life of the expatriate wife overseas, Riley has plenty of rich experiences to colour her books and has created larger than life characters you love or love to hate.

With plenty of raunchy sex, passion, scandals, drama, corruption, affairs, murders, glamor, suspense, love, heartache, secrets, betrayals, big money, power and exotic locations, there is more than enough for fans of many different genres.

The William S Club is Riley's debut novel but she has two more books on the way.
