The Endurers - Immortal warriors chosen to fight the evil that stalks humanity. Major players in the upcoming Armageddon. Single and sexy as hell.

Death. Pain. Tragedy.

For Endurer Vincent Chavalerio, immortality has brought nothing but torment and misery. Cursed by a demon to forever watch the women he loves die painfully, he's determined to finally put an end to it all and his own existence as well.

Plus-sized Scarlett Hamilton is desperate to learn how to live again after the death of her fiance, Niles. She's sent to list a historic mansion in New Orleans but ends up buying it for herself. Little does she know, there is already someone living within the walls and a gateway to Hell in the backyard.

Scarlett believes him to be a ghost, but his reaction to her body comes from a red-blooded, 100% male. After being in stasis for two hundred years, he's desperate to seduce her. Scarlett soon discovers an erotic passion in the immortal's arms, but he's still determined to let her go. Will he move past his grief and indifference enough to recognize what's waiting right in front of him?

The demon that cursed him won't release Vincent, even if it means the destruction of New Orleans. One night a devastating tragedy occurs as Hell fulfills an accepted bargain, condemning the city in the process. Time has ran out. Vincent has to see the truth or he will lose Scarlett, and his own destiny, forever.

Rose Wynters delivers something completely unique in the romance world (at least as far as anything I have ever read or heard of) an erotic romance with a Christian good vs evil theme. This is the second book in The Endurers series but can be read as a stand alone novel.

An Endurer is someone who was once mortal but made immortal in order to be warriors against demons and evil. Vincent is an Endurer and has been cursed by a powerful demon called Veronique to never find happiness with his soul mate, he has watched two soul mates perish and wants to die instead he is put in stasis for 200 years only to be awakened in the present day with a strange woman living in his house.

Scarlett has seen enough tragedy in her young life when she has to sit with her fiance as watch as he dies from cancer. When her fiance's family blames her and makes her feel miserable she decides to move on with her life by moving to New Orleans. When she finds an amazing deal on a house in the Garden District she snatches it up right away. Little does she know she is in great danger from the evil that is around her and that she has an Endurer warrior living hidden in her house.

Curvaceous Condemnation is part erotic romance, part christian romance however it isn't really preachy it is more of a have faith and God will provide. The erotic romance portion of this hot and spicy and in it we get to see the growth of Scarlett's self esteem and her acceptance of her curves.

EXCERPT:
“Veronique? They have names?”

“Yes, but don’t ever use their names. Ever. When a human uses their name, it makes them more powerful. It’s almost like worship to them, and worship gives them strength. An Endurer has protection against this, but you don’t. Never speak it, even if you know it.”

“Okay,” she replied. “You won’t have to tell me twice. How do you know her name?”

It was a question he had no intention of answering, at least not now. He wanted to bed her, badly. The last thing he needed to mention was women had died because of him. Somehow, he didn’t think that would help his cause. “It doesn’t matter. What does matter is freeing you from the curse.”

She remembered her parents and gasped, eyes widening with horror. “My mom and dad are coming for an overnight visit Saturday. What am I going to do?”

“Try to cancel. If you can’t, we’ll work around it. Who knows? Maybe we will have the curse broke by then.” He doubted it, but kept his doubts to himself. Where was Arch when you really needed him?

“I’m going to call a priest in to bless the house. Maybe he can shed some light on the situation,” Vincent continued gruffly. He was going to keep a better eye on her from here on out, no more midnight raids on her refrigerator unless she was with him.

His stomach rumbled at the thought of her cooking. The woman could cook like nobody’s business, and the leftovers were heavenly. His metabolism was extremely high due to the constant renewing of his body, and it gave him an extraordinarily high appetite.

The sound drew her attention, and she stared at him as he blushed in embarrassment. “Nice to know you really are human,” she said with a small smile. “At least now I know what’s been happening to my leftovers.”

“Sorry,” he replied sheepishly. “They were delicious.”

She felt strangely pleased that he liked her cooking. It was flattering. She was sure in his lifetime he’d had all types of food, but he enjoyed hers. “Well then, I guess I’ll be going to the store more often,” she said smiling, feeling the blush spreading across her cheeks.

Her arms began to ache, and she looked down to see what was wrong. In the light, she could see the dark purple bruises marring the paleness of her skin. They seemed to worsen by the minute.

He saw them too and growled. Moving quickly, he knelt in the floor in front of her, noting each and every purple spot. “The demon hurt you,” he said softly, but she could hear the anger in his tone. “For that, he will painfully die.”

Suddenly his mood changed. Slowly, he raised his head, his heated eyes meeting her dazed ones. He held her gaze for a moment before leaning forward and kissing each bruise.

He took his slow, sweet time, his firm lips highly erotic against her skin. She groaned softly at the tantalizing sweep of his tongue against each one. Her nipples beaded underneath the thin material of her nightgown in reaction.

His eyes glittered when he saw the visible response of her body to his mouth. The very air was charged with an erotic energy that singed both of them with its intensity. Her body grew hot with a burning need that demanded to be fulfilled.

He could sense it with his supernatural senses. He gave her a smile full of sexual promise. “I want to make love with you, Scarlett. Will you allow me?”

ARC NetGalley Review: Never Deal with Dragons by Lorenda Christensen

Consoling a sobbing dragon and serving pig buffets are just part of the job for Myrna Banks. Working for a mediation firm, it's her job to get humans compensated for damages caused by the dragons who now rule. But her "typical" day is interrupted by Trian Chobardan, an old flame who sneaked out of her bed two years ago, taking her heart and a handful of classified documents with him.

Myrna would love to show Trian the door, but he's been sent by North America's reigning dragon lord for help negotiating a truce with a powerful rival to avert war. Myrna agrees to help, even though she'll be stuck with Trian as a partner.

As the two work together, Myrna finds Trian to be surprisingly supportive—and still irresistibly attractive. Though her brain tells her not to forget his betrayal, her body feels differently. When they learn the enemy dragon lord is planning something no one could have imagined, Myrna has to learn who she can trust before she loses not only her heart, but her life.

 photo Review.jpg

Lorenda Christensen may be a new to me author however Never Deal with Dragons proves to be a funny, suspenseful and exciting paranormal romance with sexy dragons and a spunky heroine that is a fantastic read from the beginning paragraph to the final sentence.

Set in a world after World War III when the we find out we share the planet with dragons Myrna has the ability to speak to dragons and as one of the few who do she works at providing mediation between dragons and humans. The opening scene of the book where Myrna is mediating a dispute between a farmer and a pregnant dragon who ate his cow is hysterical. In addition to being funny there are several situations where Myrna must work with her ex-boyfriend Trian to help the local Dragon Lord with getting his people back from the Dragon Lord of China that turn out to be anything but easy.

The secondary characters in Never Deal With Dragons have as much to do with propelling the story line along as the hero and heroine and they are well written and used well in the plot. This book is not erotic it does have some sexual tension between Myrna and Trian and one pretty good sex scene but nothing explicit.

I enjoyed the adventures of Trian and Myrna and would love to see future books set in the same world with some of the secondary characters getting their chance as hero or heroine.

Ashlynn Monroe has a gift for writing something unique and unusual and doing it in such a manner that it seems like it is 100% normal she creates her characters and situations in such a way that the world is seamless. In Reality Hero Zane our hero is just that a hero as in superpowers and everything, our heroine, Dina, managed to escape the mutations that created the superpowers in the 4 others held with her so she takes her average self and gets a job in television (reality tv no less).

Dina left Zane and the others because she loves them so much she never wants to be a liability to them because of her "normalness". Zane has never stopped loving Dina, he has kept an eye on her by going by her house regularly without her knowledge just to make sure she is okay.

This is really an unique take on the whole second chance at love when you throw in super villains and television reality dating shows. The story line is clever, fun, funny, sexy, suspenseful and has plenty of openings to turn this into a series of books about the secondary characters. I enjoyed reading this and am on the look out to find out what happens with Dina's sister Ella.

EXCERPT:
Rushing over to where Zane and Ella lay, she couldn’t figure out why they weren’t getting up, until she touched Zane. Screaming, she jerked her hand back. Her hand throbbed from the shock of the electric current running through him. It wasn’t enough to kill him, but it had to hurt like hell.

“My God, how long have you been like this? I’m sorry I didn’t find you sooner.”

Dina went to her sister and was just about to touch her when Ella’s soft voice stopped her.

“Don’t touch me, Dina. There’s more electricity in me. It’d kill you.”

Dina stepped back a safe distance. She looked around for any trace of the source of the electricity, but couldn’t see it. No obvious cords or wires lay around them. It was perplexing and frustrating. Her damaged hand and side hurt like hell.

They needed a hero. It was someone else’s turn to save their asses. She looked around, but found nothing that would help her stop the current. I’m all they have. I need to figure this out.

She began to feel the walls and floor of the dimly lit room. It seemed impossible, but it was as if the force generated directly on top of them. Feeling the air over them, she felt no cords, wires, or anything that could be causing it. They lay locked in a prison of agony. It made her physically sick watching them suffer. Anger burned inside of her.

A soft whisper slid over her. It made her skin crawl. Turning, she was held transfixed by the sight before her. There’d be no turning off the electricity. Ian stood in the dark doorway at the back of the space. He was wearing a God-awful get up, something that even an acrobat or magician would feel foolish wearing. Half-white and half-black spandex covered his legs and torso. It had lightning bolts running up the legs, and she swore she saw sequins glittering in the dim light. At least his clothes advertise the crazy inside the kook wearing them.

Even with her life at stake, she felt amazed any man would voluntarily wear that. A pair of young, big-haired, brunette women who resembled rock video rejects flanked him on both sides. They looked so similar that Dina wondered if they were twins. They rubbed against him likes cats in heat. It looked like the 1980s had thrown up the worst of the decade all over them. Worse, they wore outfits that matched Ian’s. His cruelty extended to the wardrobe of his minions.

Forcing herself to focus, she glanced back at Zane and Ella. They were writhing. Ian’s proximity must be increasing the voltage. She couldn’t believe he’d torture people he’d once called family. She didn’t know how to stop him, except to kill him, and the iron rod was all she had. Now she wished she’d listened to Ervin a few years ago when he’d tried to get her to go to the range. He wanted her to know how to shoot, and have a carry and conceal permit. A string of attacks in the studio parking ramp had him looking out for her. She’d decided the only safe way to carry a gun was to be willing to use it. She wasn’t willing then, but gun would really come in handy right now.

Ian had grown into a tall, well built, and very handsome, albeit tasteless, man. Knowing he’d thrown away all his positive potential made her ache. In her heart, she still wanted to help him. Dina still saw the scared boy behind his eyes.

They just stared at one another. Dina frowned. She could tell she was the last person he’d expected to see in his abandoned warehouse. He looked as if he were trying to decide what to do. She could sympathize because she was trying to think of a way to kill him. She knew he was the Electrocutioner, but actually seeing it herself was heartbreaking. The electricity related crime spree should have given him away, but she’d hoped she was wrong. After he’d left, she’d always hoped he’d found a way to live a normal life—be happy.

Turmoil raged on his face, and Dina wanted to reach out to him and help him stop the madness he’d created. She lifted her arm ever so slightly and took a small step forward as if to go to him. His men who’d left the room earlier suddenly returned. They were all dressed in black suits and wore sunglasses. All of them had that slack blankness in their expressions. Creeptastic. She shuddered. The minions raised their guns simultaneously. Creeptastic-er. She saw it as if it were slow motion. Her senses seemed to sharpen as mortal fear for her life kicked in, making her hypersensitive to the danger. She heard the shot and closed her eyes. Certainty she’d be dead filled her with resignation. If only I’d saved them, it would have been worth it. Dina felt no pain. She felt no wound. Opening her eyes, she saw the men lay dead. Her mouth fell open, but no sound came out. Confused and terrified, she looked back at Ian. His spandex kitties backed away from him, looking at him uncertainly. She realized that he’d killed his own men.

“How could you kill them?” she asked quietly.

A booming laugh came out of him, and the spandex twins backed farther away. They looked truly terrified. He suddenly stopped laughing, his head snapped forward, and he pinned Dina with a dark look.

Now she knew why the women looked scared. She saw the electricity in his eyes. It hadn’t been there a moment earlier. The realization that he could kill her immediately with a look took a moment to sink in.

“Please, Ian, stop this now. I want to help you. You’re not a killer. This is wrong— What have you become?”

She saw the electricity crackle more intensely. Me and my damn big mouth.

His booming laugh now had his kitties hunched down shaking, but still flanking him. How much electroshock therapy does it take to make your minions that devoted and devoid of style sense? Dina thought she detected genuine humor this time as he laughed. When he stopped, the look he gave her was the oddest one she’d ever seen. His hard face softened slightly. Yet he still appeared lethal. When he kills me, I hope it’s fast and painless. He’d not spoken to her, but his gaze seemed intensely transfixed on her. He’d always given her soul-deep stares, but this felt edged with a matured hunger. She experienced white-hot terror mingle with the adrenaline.

Dina took a step back, and it seemed to break his focus.

“Should I kill you, Dina? Should I kill Zane or Ella and make you watch? What am I going to do with you? I never thought that I’d be near you again, but here you are. It looks like you wanted to come for a visit very badly.” When he spoke, his voice sounded hard and unfeeling. He glanced at her bloody hand and side.

She said nothing, afraid to make him more unstable. She regretted her rash dialogue earlier. She might’ve sealed all their death warrants.

“It’s a reunion. I received a lot of money to bring you two here and hold you.” He turned toward Zane and Ella as he spoke. Then he looked back at Dina. “Poor Dina just came here to give me a little bonus. I’m sure my employers would pay an additional amount for her. Zane, I see how you’re straining to free yourself. You should stop and save your energy, because you’re going to need it. I wonder if I should keep Dina for myself. My employers need never know I have her. Dina, you’re the only thing I ever wanted but didn’t get. I’m wealthy—crime pays. I can buy anything, except…”

Fear coursed down her spine as he trailed off, looking vacant. Zane groaned with his struggles behind her. This wasn’t going to end well for any of them, but she feared that it would go extra badly for her if Ian decided to keep her. Death was preferable to rape. Dina wanted to run. Yet she couldn’t abandon her sister and Zane. If she ran, he would fry her like the guards. Indecision made her crazy with all the various possibilities.

Excerpt:

She wasn’t sure where Tristan had gone when she exited the bathroom, but she was hungry and wasn’t waiting for him. Within a few minutes, she quickly found the kitchen and the ever-important coffee machine. She turned it on, popped in the coffee pod and started opening cabinets looking for mugs. Setting two cups on the counter, she opened the door to the refrigerator and pulled out creamer then continued looking through the clutter for the eggs. She felt ravenous, and needed protein. “Come on, where are you, little eggies? Tristan has to have eggs. Everyone has eggs,” she mumbled, talking to herself.
“Tristan does,” he told her with a grin, surprised to find Kalli rummaging around in search of food. Despite taking a cold shower, he was instantly hard again at the sight of her lovely bare ass which peeked at him from underneath his shirt. He wanted nothing more in that moment than to take her from behind and slide deep into her warm heat. The temptation was great, but he restrained his desires.
Kalli jumped at his voice, quickly turning around. “Hi, um, I was just going to make us something to eat,” she said nervously.
“By all means,” he agreed confidently, walking by her wearing only a towel around his hips. His erection tented the fabric, and he made no attempt to conceal it.
It was nearly impossible to ignore both the charisma and raw sexuality Tristan exuded. Slowly, Kalli’s eyes roamed up and down his lean torso, astonished at the audaciousness he exhibited while wearing practically nothing. His hair, dampened from the shower, fell shaggy over his eyes. Hardened abs rippled down toward his low slung towel. Struggling for the words that never came, she couldn’t help her natural reaction, which was to look him over one last time. Embarrassed, she just knew that he knew that she’d just looked at his groin area, which appeared to be growing. Oh God. She rubbed her hand over her eyes and smiled to herself. What was it about this man? Get it together, Kalli. Say something.
“Um, okay then, so the eggs.” She opened the refrigerator, careful to hold on to the shirt so it didn’t ride up again.
“Like what you see?” he asked seductively as he set a coffee mug next to her hand, proceeding to wait for the next cup to fill.
“What did you just say?” Shocked, she grabbed the egg carton and quickly stood up, banging her head. She turned around holding the package in one hand, rubbing the sore spot on her head with the other.
He set his eyes on hers, taking the eggs and putting them on the ledge. She backed into the counter as he caged her, pushing her body flush against his. “I said…Do. You. Like. What. You. See?” he whispered into her ear, accentuating every word.
She sucked a breath as a million pithy responses filled her head. But the hard bulge pressed against her body and her dangerously hard nipples made it impossible for her to speak coherently.
“Um.” God, she felt like a complete idiot. Eight years of college and all she had was ‘um’?
“I’ll take that as a yes,” he replied playfully, kissing her ear softly. He reached over to grab his coffee cup, which made him press against her even harder.
She sucked a breath at the welcome intrusion. There was a part of her that thought he might kiss her. Immobilized against his hard torso, he had her exactly where he wanted her, or rather, where she wanted to be.
Instead of kissing her, however, he wrapped his fingers around the clay handle and walked away with a broad smile across his face, without saying another word. He proceeded to sit down at the island, and switched on his i-Pad, checking his email as he pretended to ignore her. When Kalli turned around again to make the eggs, he let his eyes drift to her soft supple cheeks that strained to stay covered by his shirt. The hem teased higher as she bent over slightly to turn on the stove. Damn, this woman was killing him.
Tristan could not remember the last time he’d slept naked with a woman. Sure he’d fucked many, but not truly just slept with one. He’d stayed wolf as long as he could, treasuring her trust, teaching her that he wouldn’t hurt her. But now that she was healing and walking around his home like she belonged here, he felt the pressure in his chest along with the ache between his legs.
They’d forged a bond last night, and he didn’t want to rush forward and scare her off. At the same time, he knew she was withholding information. Something small, perhaps, but it was there. Bringing his full attention back to his tablet, he tapped out a quick email to Logan asking him to run a full security clearance on one “Kalli Williams”.

Coming in as book 3 of the Knights of Darkness Chronicles The Royal Flush should be read in order as it really is as much a continuation in the ongoing relationships of the characters as it is a stand alone story. Yes the story is told completely however to understand the relationships between the characters it would be best to have read the first two.

The Royal Flush has a new twist with powerful humans collecting and hunting some of the coven, pride and den. Once again our heroine Natasha is the human filling in a hot vampire sandwich they and the leopard pride and the wolves all work together to mount a rescue and take out the bad guys.

We are once again treated to action, suspense, hot guys and sexual tension like crazy. Ms. Simmons doesn't shy away from m/m or menage however it isn't explicit or vulgar in anyway. Some new relationships are forged others are abandoned, we meet new players and learn some history of some of the characters and as always we have a fantastic suspense filled mystery to sink our teeth into.

With a fun twist in one of the major relationships in the series I am excited to see how it plays out.

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
I was born in the little, but big bustling city of Chicago, Illinois. I still live there today and I’m loving every second of it ... Except for those harsh cold winters. I started writing short horror stories when I was eleven years old. It wasn't until 2004 that I decided to take the plunge into the professional literary world when I wrote Desires Unleashed.

I love the supernatural world; I've always found it fascinating, especially vampires and shape-shifters. It was my love of the genre that motivated me to create the story I had always wanted to read. I published it, hoping there were other people out there who would be entertained by that same story. I love to entertain people, to offer them that fantasy world they can escape into filled with wonders and good times. I know I appreciate the escapism I've delved into when reading a good book.

Some of the accolades I've won for my writing are: "New Voice of Today" by A Romance Review, "Rising Star" by Love Romance and "Author of the Month" by Warrior of Words. I've been nominated two years in a row in several categories, including "best vampire novel" and "best urban-fantasy" at Love Romance and More. My third novel; The Royal Flush did win honorable mention in 2006.
