BOLTED by Meg Benjamin

 photo BookTour.jpg

Sometimes you have to get lost before you can find yourself.

The Promise Harbor Wedding, Book 2

Greta Brewster McBain in a bind. Two, if she’s really counting. First there’s the can-barely-breathe, bridesmaid’s dress from hell. Second, the stranger who just carried her “perfect” brother’s fiancĂ©e out the church door has made it impossible to tell her own mother about her own divorce. Rather than confirm her reputation as the family screw-up, Greta takes a drive to clear her head.

Trapped in a hole and unable to reach his cell phone, Hank Mitchell is resigned to becoming a permanent part of his own archeological dig when help arrives—in the form of a woman who looks like a Gone With The Wind refugee. Behind the ruffles and lace, though, is something he appreciates: a woman who isn’t afraid of a little dirt.

Their instant connection draws Greta into the eccentric world of the Hotel Grand, where she impulsively trades her hoopskirts for an apron. Soon things are getting hot, not only in the hotel kitchen, but in Hank’s arms...

Warning: Contains hot moonlit sex, a melancholy turtle, two wisecracking seniors, and the world’s ugliest bridesmaid dress.

Meg will be awarding a $10 Amazon GC to a randomly drawn commenter during the tour. Follow the tour HERE comment often for your best chance at winning.

EXCERPT

What he saw next almost convinced Hank he was hallucinating. The woman was dressed like something out of a movie: a huge bell-shaped skirt covered with ruffles, a wide sash at the waist, a low-cut neckline that stretched across her shoulders and revealed what looked to be more-than-respectable breasts. After a moment, she knelt at the edge, peering down at him, and he saw short brownish hair and dark eyes. “Hi,” she said.

“Hi.” He took a quick breath, hoping to god she was real and not a particularly bizarre dream. “Could you possibly come down here and give me a hand? I’m stuck.”

She frowned slightly, dark eyes narrowing. “Possibly. What do you need exactly?”

“My foot’s wedged in here.” He pointed to his foot, still jammed between the two large rocks. “Maybe you could help me pull the rocks apart so I could get loose.”

She frowned, considering. “How about just taking your shoe off?”

He shook his head. “I tried that. It’s too tight. I can’t get my foot out of the shoe.”

“Oh.” She was still frowning. “Okay, just a minute.” She disappeared from the edge, and for a moment he was unreasonably afraid she’d gone. Then he saw the bell-shaped skirt at the top of the ladder. “Hang on, this may take a while,” she said cheerfully. “This skirt isn’t exactly made for climbing up and down ladders.”

“That’s okay, take your time. Don’t hurt yourself.” He leaned back slightly against the side of the excavation. He still wasn’t entirely sure he wasn’t hallucinating, but at least it was more entertaining than standing there wondering if he could amputate his own foot with his pocketknife.

He watched the huge green skirt floating slowly down the ladder. Given the half of the girl he could see from the waist up, he assumed there were legs and a rear end under there somewhere, but there was no telling from what he could see currently. She looked a little like one of those dolls that had only a cone underneath the costume.

The girl in the green dress reached the bottom of the ladder, lifting up her skirt to step free. She was wearing white running shoes, he noted. Good thing, too. She probably couldn’t have gotten down that ladder if she’d had to worry about her shoes along with her skirt.

She gave him a bright smile, pushing her bangs out of her eyes. “Now what?”

“My foot’s sort of wedged in here at the base of the wall. Maybe you could push the rocks on one side and I could push on the other. I don’t have enough leverage to do it all myself.”

The girl frowned again. “Let me give it a try.” She bent down at his feet, giving him a great view of her cleavage.

Jesus, Mitchell, she’s trying to help you. Do not ogle her.

Excerpt:

Fingers pressed against his throat, feeling for a pulse.
“This one’s alive.” Someone hoisted the weight of a large chunk of wreckage from his torso. Two sets of hands slid under him. “On the count of three. One. Two. Three.”
They moved in unison, rolling him onto a stretcher.
“No,” he begged. He wasn’t alive. This couldn’t be real. Another protest gurgled from his throat and he began to convulse, unable to hold his limbs still.

“Hold him down so I can sedate him.” Hands grasped his wounded limbs. Bone cracked and shifted under their grip. He tried to arch up, but remained restrained by several soldiers. He yelled and thrashed. They grabbed both sides of his face, holding him still.
Justin screamed. The sound was so inhuman; if he hadn’t been the one who’d made it, he wouldn’t have believed it came from a man. A stick with a needle. Burning.
As the seizure eased, they released their hold. He turned his head toward the medic who’d drugged him. The man blurred in and out. Justin’s vision came back into focus as a burned picture of a woman and baby caught the breeze and tumbled across the baked earth next to where the medic kneeled. Justin swallowed and his eyes blurred with tears. Sanders hadn’t even gotten to hold his daughter.
“You’re going to be okay.”
Let me die. Please. Let me die. Pain rode his nerves like an electrical wire, sending jolts of agony to the tips of his fingers and toes. He opened his mouth, but nothing came from his throat. Boom, boom, boom. His heartbeat slowed as the sedative did its job.
“Get him on the chopper.”
Regardless the drug, every step the medics took hurt as they hauled him toward reprieve. Broken bones, burns, but nothing compared to what played through his head. He’d killed them all and survived to see his handiwork. Nothing could be worse than that.

Excerpt:
Hallie pulled her legs up into the chair. Sam noticed her look of discomfort. She had something she wanted to add to the conversation, but didn’t want to rock the boat. Hallie was a twin, but she was a very different personality compared to her identical sister. Tess was loud and proud and in your face happy most of the time; whereas, Hallie was quiet and much more reserved about her state of mind.

“I think you should give the guys a chance, Sam. They came from all over. One is here from Italy, Riccardo Savona. He’s from one of the oldest noble families. Another man, from a California family requested permission from Daddy to meet you. I think Daddy said the third man was from Brazil.”

Sam shook her head. It didn’t matter. She didn’t care. “Hallie, you may be fine with letting Mom and Dad pick out your matched mate, but I want to have a say in it and I don’t want to be matched until after I graduate.”

“Sam,” Nicole broke in, “would you choose to disgrace our family?”

Sam turned and clambered up from the floor onto the couch next to Nicole. She couldn’t believe all her sisters were really okay with having their mate picked out for them. She glanced at Tess, who also seemed to be waiting patiently for her answer to Nicole’s question.

“If I were to mate with a wolf outside of the noble family, would you think me disgraceful? If I merely wanted the chance to … let’s say … add a name to the list for the hunt … would that be so bad? Would it be so terrible to want the match to be someone your wolf desired?” She laid it out there. Why not?

Ally Kincaid returns to Freewill, Wyoming, to see her father after a two year absence. Anticipating a quiet family reunion, she finds herself butting heads with her father’s foreman instead. The man’s arrogance and sexy drawl push all her buttons, making her wonder what he’s hiding beneath his cowboy swagger.

Matt Gentry walked away from the past and shies from the future. No ties means no one gets hurt…until the boss’s daughter, a hot, green-eyed blonde, tempts him to break his own rules.

When tragedy strikes, will building tension and pride destroy their growing attraction or show them the way home?

 photo Review.jpg

Take Me Home Cowboy is a contemporary/western romance novella, part of the Western Escape series by Decadent Publishing all set in Freewill, Wyoming but all stand alone books.

Ally, left Freewill to go to New York and become a editor in the publishing field, when she comes home to check on her dad at their ranch she finds a sexy cowboy with a past he keeps silent about, Matt Gentry, has become the foreman at the ranch in her absence. Sparks fly and chemistry is immediate.

Ally I found came off as rather abrasive and spoiled for the fist part of the story, as someone who grew up "out West" and has since moved to the "East Coast" I understand the change in dealing with people that must take place when you go from a small town to the big city, I don't know that it was Ms. Ames goal to make you dislike Ally at first but it would be easy to not appreciate the necessity of her attitude adjustment.

When Matt finally reveals what he has been hiding it seem to me anyway to not be that big of a deep dark secret that he should have worried over, but hey that is just me.

Overall it was a cute fast read with one particularly steamy scene and some sexual tension. A fun escape for a few hours in the afternoon to a small town in Wyoming filled with hot cowboys.

Excerpt:
Ally’s attention immediately flew to the newcomer in the room. How could she not? He was gorgeous. Not that she actually wanted to notice. Ha! Who was she kidding? His hair was still damp where it curled slightly at the neckline of his T-shirt. The short sleeve tee was snug fitting and showed off his pectorals and tanned arm muscles. He grabbed his plate, made his way around the table, and leaned in close. Oh, his scent hit her—clean soap and pure male. Good God.

“Like what you see, princess?” he murmured.

Startled out of her trance, she stumbled for a quick, snide comment. “You wish, cowboy,” she whispered back, and then turned back to her daddy, who was already halfway finished with his meal.

She was not about to let anyone see how rattled the foreman’s presence actually made her. She only hoped she hadn’t already given her odd interest in him away. Ignore him and he won't be any the wiser. She would be sure to make this trip a short one, or she would be in trouble.

Jesse cleaned his plate and abruptly stood, placed his dishes in the sink, and made to leave the room.

“Looks like you kids get to do the dishes. I’m off to my study.” Her dad kissed the top of her head and slapped his foreman on the back, then chuckled as he disappeared through the door.

“That rat!” she said. “He shoveled through his dinner on purpose.”

“No worries, princess. I do the dishes every night anyway. You can go do whatever it is you do before bed. I’ll take care of the clean up before I head out to check the horses.”

“Oh no you don’t. I won’t let you go running to Daddy tomorrow whining because I didn’t do my share, so I’ll wash. And why are you calling me ‘princess’?”

“It seemed fitting. Would you rather me go back to ma'am?”

“No, I would rather you use my name, thank you.”

He only shrugged. He pushed his place setting aside, rose, and reached for the dessert and plates on the counter. “Since we'll be working together, how about some dessert before we get busy?”

SAVED BY HIS SUBMISSIVE (The W.I.L.D. Boys of Special Forces, Book One) by Angel Payne

Make way for the Warriors Intense in Love & Domination—the W.I.L.D. Boys of Special Forces!

These eight soldiers signed up for the Alpha Squad in more ways than one. They fight for their country with every drop of passion in their bodies, and they fight for their women even harder: with every ounce of commitment in their soul.

Garrett Hawkins is the most valuable asset to his Special Forces unit—because frankly, the guy doesn’t care if he lives or dies anymore. Since the love of his life, Sage Weston, was kidnapped and killed with her medical unit a year ago, Garrett has turned the shell of his soul into the impenetrable armor of a finely-tuned fighting machine. Being the first tapped for the unit’s craziest missions is just fine by him. The less time for memories, and the agony they carve into his soul, the better.

It’s a plan that works—until one night, deep in the jungles of Thailand, Garrett’s world is upended when memories become reality. The unit is called to rescue a group of kidnapped aid workers, only the head count on the retrieval is unexpectedly doubled. Sage and her teammate, believed dead, are very much alive. Only now that Sage is back in his arms, Garrett doesn’t know what to do. He has changed in dramatic and daunting ways, especially in the darker tastes of his passion. If he touches Sage again, he’ll want to claim her, restrain her…dominate her.

Is Sage’s love strong enough to let Garrett back in not only as her fiancĂ©, but her Dominant? Can she trust that visiting the new shadows of his life will lead her to ecstasy and not ruin? Or can it be that

Garrett’s discipline is exactly what her soul needs to find its way back to life—and love—once again?

 photo Review.jpg

Angel Payne writes some of the hottest BDSM romance around and so I was not surprised at all that I loved this book. What was a fantastic surprise was the amazing emotional roller coaster that Saved By His Subnissive turned out to be. Not only is this a romance, an erotic romance with BDSM elements it is a suspenseful, riveting and heartwarming read that will have you laughing out loud one minute and wringing your hands and wiping tears the next.

Ms. Payne is able to write characters that have been through some of the most traumatic and awful life changing events and she lets you into their head and into their hearts. While dealing with abandonment issues, PTSD and abuse trauma both Sage and Garrett come out stronger and better but only after they wade through dealing with it. This isn't your wave a magic wand and everyone is okay sort of story, and thank heavens for that.

With gripping plotlines, off the charts sexual tension and wring your panties sex scenes Saved By His Submissive is one of the best books I have read this year. While I adore Ms. Paynes other series (The Kinky Truth series) I have to say that I LOVE this one even more. I will be first in line when the next book in the series Handcuffed by Her Hero, comes out in the Summer 2013.

Author Info:
Hi there! I'm Angel: weirdo, pop-culture geek, hopeless romantic, and totally OCD writer. I'm so glad you've found me, and I hope you like my stuff. It truly comes from my heart.

I've loved reading all my life, and have been writing nearly that long, too. I think it started when I penned an 80-page novel about a time-traveling family for a 5th-grade school project. You could say I was hooked. In middle school, I moved to the hardcore stuff: the paragraph-at-a-time "swap-stories" with all my besties. (C'mon...don't lie...you remember those too!) Needless to say, the stories featured lots of French kissing, mindless groping and angsty drama - but I knew I'd found a niche when I was invited to participate in several more swap-stories on campus.

Some years, various entertainment writing gigs and a half-dozen historical romances later, I discovered the world of erotic romance -- and a place my adventurous mind finally felt fully at home (not to mention a great outlet for all that angst I never gave up). I love this genre, and hope my stories speak to your heart as well as your blood pressure.
