With each passing day Jessica’s consciousness grew stronger. For twenty years she was content to remain as she was—trapped inside another. The life she led came to an abrupt end the moment she laid eyes on Raphael. At first she suspected they were destined to be together--his gentle touch confirmed it. Although he didn’t know it, he ignited waves of a fiery passion that burned deep into her soul. It became brighter every day, giving her the strength she needed. Somehow she would find a way to free herself from her grandmother’s powerful magic.

Since her birth she learned vicariously from observing others of her kind and until now she was satisfied with the life she led. She had everything one would need to live a meaningful life without the stress the human world inflicts on its inhabitants. With each passing day her obsession to be more than she was, intensified. Jessica knew she was gifted with her race's abilities to communicate with others but until now she had never used them. They say practice makes perfect and she was at a point now where she could make her presence known—at least to him.

Eternal Nights is the second book in the Sekhmet's Guardians series the story in the book is self contained however I think you would find it most enjoyable if you read book one first to understand everything at play in this book.

The central story of Eternal Nights is the love story between Raphael and Jessica/Nowaki, there are however several other plot lines that run through this book. As I said in the review of Book 1 I love the mix or paranormal, native American, Egyptian & Norse mythology it combines for a uniquely V.S. Nelson book. This series is truly something different that other PNR you have read.

The action from the plot lines about the guardians fighting Set's vampires is exciting and provides the more face paced part of the story, while the secondary love stories are enough to whet your appetite for them to follow with books of their own.

I loved the story of Nowaki and for sure if you didn't hate Jennifer's mother after the first book you will after this one. This story flowed better than the first I felt however I think you would have a hard time understanding who people are or the connections between them without the reading the first book.

Excerpt:
Chapter Eight

Raphael woke early in the morning. His platinum haired angel came to him again. They spent endless hours wrapped in each other’s embrace making love over and over and over again.
He knew every inch of her body down to the little birthmark she had on the right side of her thigh. He knew the taste of her lips--all of them. Her honey-suckled sweet essence still lingered on his tongue as he remembered taking her with his mouth. No matter what he did, he couldn’t seem to get enough of her. Bound and determined she was real, not some fantasy his mind had created--he knew one way or another he was going to have to find her.
He needed her to fulfill his life, as surely as he needed air to breath.
Waking up with his arms wrapped around Nowaki, he prayed he hadn’t done anything inappropriate to the wolf that slept beside him. He slid out of the sweat soaked sheets and headed for the shower, still hard as a rock. He didn’t bother to check to see if he’d come in his sleep. Hell, he knew he had, over and over and over again. But still, he was hard and more than ready for another release.
Stepping into the shower he let the water drown him in the hard spray as the three jets engulfed him. Trying to distract his thirst and hunger for release, he washed his body and shampooed his hair. He conditioned his shoulder length auburn hair. When he went to apply the remaining conditioner to the hair between his legs, the visions of his
angel reappeared in his mind and his right hand took over.
He thought his eyes were open--they weren’t.
He thought she was standing naked with him in the shower--she wasn’t.
He thought it was her hands reaching for him….

Author Bio
V.S. Nelson has always enjoyed reading stories with strong relationships and happy endings so it’s not surprising she found herself writing across the romance genre. Even her commercial fiction, Sins of a Man, the memoirs of a Mafia Hit man, is layered with romantic elements.
Landing in Arizona, after an exciting teaching career, which took her to the Middle East for several years, she lives in Arizona where she spend most of my time making love to her computer while writing, editing or researching, seven to ten hours a day. The days she’s not writing, you will find her with my critique partners at Starbucks, attending or presenting a workshop or at a RWA meeting.
Being a Native American woman and a Scorpio, she’s always had a fondness for history, mythology, the occult, and the unexplained events which have occurred on this world we call home. It was no wonder she found herself writing a paranormal series.
She enjoys hearing from readers, fans and people with similar interests. They are more than welcome to contact her through her website http://www.authorvsnelson.com
