She tried to twist around to see the man who was holding her, but he held on too tightly for her to see him. “Nothing of value upon your person?” he asked thoughtfully.

“Nothing,” she said as she kicked hard behind her and strained forward to escape to no avail.
“What about your person?” “What?” “You. What if I want to take you?” She paused from digging her foot as hard as possible into his shin. “I’m a baker’s daughter,” Luna said irritably. “I’m hardly any good to sell, and you would need my permission besides, everyone knows that. Unless you work for another baker? And if so, I must say, it’s a bit drastic to steal me in the middle of the night.” The man laughed. “You don’t recognize me at all?”
