Eternal Lovers puts it's own spin on paranormal romance by combining Egyptian mythology, Scot/Irish mythology and even aliens to create the world that Gabe and Jennifer inhabit. We are introduced to the Guardians are introduced into the war ongoing between them and others of the same alien race also here on earth.

I enjoyed the relationships that were built not only Gabe and Jennifer's but also the relationships between the all the Guardians, their lifemates, the extended family as well as other of the nation. There is a LOT going on in this book and in an effort to not info dump a ton on us for the first half of the book we are given background info on characters along the way. I appreciate not having everyone's life story dumped on us at once however in many cases the pause to give us background really interrupted the natural flow of the plot.

The story was good, it was a new twist in the vampire world which is always fun. The characters are all set up for the rest of the series as well as providing us backstory on most of the characters as well. We do have some steamy scenes as well as a brief m/m scene.

EXCERPT TAKEN FROM CHAPTER SIX
“Now, let’s start from the beginning, because heaven help me, I have no idea what just happened upstairs. All I know is, I was in the billiard room when Jennifer came running in, grabbed me and pulled me to the dance floor. She told me a wild story about being stalked by a pimp, describing you as her stalker… Then I look up and see your red eyes and fangs glaring at me… Can you explain any of this?”
“She called me a PIMP? A fucking PIMP? Of all things, a PIMP, I can’t believe she actually has the audacity to call me that.”
He sauntered across the room, paused then tipped up the bag. After draining it, he shook his head then turned back to him. “Really, a pimp?”
Raphael smiled and nodded yes.
He stomped over and threw the empty bag of blood in the trash can with so much force the impact turned the can over. He plopped himself into a chair while running his fingers through the top of is hair; mumbling to himself more than talking to Raphael. What had he done? And better yet why?
Raphael burst out in a roar of laughter.
Gabriel stood up, straightened his black Italian custom silk suit which had been tailored to fit his 6’8”, 280lb frame and glared back at him. “What is so fucking funny?”
“You… Gabe, my friend, look at your self. You’re a walking fucking disaster. Come on, lighten up. So the broad called you a pimp. Can’t you see the humor in it?”
“Not really.”

Author Bio
V.S. Nelson has always enjoyed reading stories with strong relationships and happy endings so it’s not surprising she found herself writing across the romance genre. Even her commercial fiction, Sins of a Man, the memoirs of a Mafia Hit man, is layered with romantic elements.
Landing in Arizona, after an exciting teaching career, which took her to the Middle East for several years, she lives in Arizona where she spend most of my time making love to her computer while writing, editing or researching, seven to ten hours a day. The days she’s not writing, you will find her with my critique partners at Starbucks, attending or presenting a workshop or at a RWA meeting.
Being a Native American woman and a Scorpio, she’s always had a fondness for history, mythology, the occult, and the unexplained events which have occurred on this world we call home. It was no wonder she found herself writing a paranormal series.
She enjoys hearing from readers, fans and people with similar interests. They are more than welcome to contact her...

OMG! When I signed up to review this book it sounded familiar but when I started reading it I then realized it was a book I had read about a year ago and couldn't remember the name of the author so I couldn't find it among the the thousands of books on my Kindle (what? no I don't have a reading obsession ;o) LOL)
I was so excited to reread this to see if it was as good as I remembered and to make sure I marked it down so I could finish the trilogy as it came out.

This is such a fun book with travel across worlds and time, magic powers, griffins and dragons, four kick butt young women with mad skills and 4 handsome men of the Griffin Guard. We have magic battles, telepathy with mythological creatures and finding your soul mate by casting a spell.

I loved that they women were able to kick butt before they traveled and then they learned of magic powers they didn't know they had. I thought the men were sweet and the romance that blooms very tender. This isn't your heavy fantasy where there are 150 different species to keep track of and it isn't a hot and heavy steamy sexy book either it is a fun, exciting and suspenseful (at times) book with some mythological creatures, a new world and time that is slightly different from our own and a sweet romance that blooms between the young men and women.

My only issue with this book was the way that Ms MacDonald would switch points of view with out any sort of indication it was going to happen until after the fact, you would be reading and it would be from one characters point of view then the next line would be someone else's POV but you didn't know that until the thought ended and it would say it was someone else or the thought made no sense coming from the first character. That is the only reason I am giving a 4 instead of a 5 this is a really fun book.

Excerpt:

A rude awakening

“The branches we used to make the shelter stunk. I wasn’t sure yet if it was a good smell or a bad smell, just distractingly pungent. The shelter was a pretty basic design but it kept the wind out and might keep us dry.

It was just that smell.

Maybe it isn’t just the branches, I thought, it might be my pillow.

Sighing, I sat up to try and fix it again. Scrunching the leaves into a better shape, I re-fixed the hood of my cloak over them and lay down.

Sleep came quickly and it must have been around midnight when Audi’s soft growl woke me.

What? What was she growling about? Blinking, I peered around. The moon was full, making it surprisingly light in the shelter. I whispered her name and Audi crept to my side then gave another low growl. Placing a hand on her back I was shocked to feel the fur erect, like when we’d been chased by the elgrids.

Oh God, what now?

It couldn’t be anything little, considering Audi hadn’t raced out of the shelter to scare it off. Audrey wasn't a chicken, but she was sensible. With trembling hands, I knelt and strapped on the sword and daggers. The shuffling outside had gotten closer. My stomach seemed to sink to my feet and a wave of dizziness hit as fear swept through me.

Not again, I thought, the village is half a day’s walk away. There was no way we would be able to make it back.

I crawled over to Kassie and shook her, placing a hand over her mouth. She mumbled, then her eyes flashed open in shock.

'Shhh, something’s outside and Audi thinks it’s bad. Strap your sword on and get ready.'

She reached for her sword and I turned to repeat the process with Loi and Sian. “

What if the myths of ancient Greece weren't myths after all? If you are an American archaeologist you have to find the proof to secure your financing and prove you aren't a nutcase. That is what archaeologist Beau Morris is trying to do with the labyrinth from the myth of the Minotaur.

Ariadne is a nymph she and her sisters have been charged with keeping the secrets of the sisterhood and of her Goddess Epione, part of those secrets is a curse against any man that they may love.

I loved this take on the mythology of ancient Greece, I love to see more books taking on the more minor gods and goddesses that we don't all immediately know about.
Ms. Winters takes the mythological beings and places them in modern society. We are taken on a wild roller coaster of emotions when Ariadne is torn between duty to all she has known and love.
I found the characters engaging and there rolls in the story for the most part clear, I enjoyed how the Minotaur was worked into the modern world a great deal. I also felt that this was an emotionally balanced book all of the weight of the hard decisions isn't just left to the heroine but Beau has some really hard issues of his own to deal with.

I am looking forward to the continuation of this series and give The Nymph's Labyrinth a 4 out of 5 flower review

Photobucket

ROMAN NICOLIS Cursed for 2,000 years, he has tracked his lover’s soul through each reincarnation only to lose her horribly every time. Reclaiming their love is their only salvation. He’s been her friend, her father, her neighbor, but never again her lover … until now.

STELLA WALKER A late night walk home throws her into the path of a killer. The last thing she remembers are the deep blue eyes of the man trying to kill her—and the first things she sees after a seven-day coma are the same blue eyes in the handsome face of the man hired to protect her. Is he truly the owner of a security firm assigned to protect her, or the man who wants to finish her off? Is it fear she feels when Roman touches her, or the memory of something sweeter?

Photobucket
I have to say I love mythology and one of the most under used pantheon's is Egyptian. Tmonique Stephens manages in Eternity to use Egyptian mythology beautifully while writing a suspenseful and contemporary book.

The love story between Roman and Stella (Elyssian, his soul mate) is well written you can feel the anguish that Roman goes through and the wariness and fear on Stella's part. While the love story is fantastic it is only part of the picture because you have a serial killer on the lose and after Stella.

The Egyptian mythology come into play through the killer and his reason, motives and needs behind the killing spree he is on. The mind of the killer and his relationship to the Egyptian Gods is fed to you throughout the book giving you hints and teases along the way as to who the killer may be.

I was sucked into this book from the first page and read the whole 300 some odd pages in one day, I give Eternity 4 out of 5 flower

Abut the Author:
In high school, Tmonique Stephens wrote her first novel about a reporter and a hockey player after the U.S. hockey team won gold in the 1980 Olympics. She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Creative Writing from City College of New York where she won an English Department Award for her play Tea with Salt in 1987. She took a break to graduate from college, get married, have a daughter, but she never gave up on her dream.
She loves paranormal and fantasy romances and will read anything about fairies, demons, or angels. She also enjoys Stephen King and Dean Koontz. The first romance she remembers reading was a Harlequin about a sheikh and his forbidden love for an American woman way back in middle school. That’s before loves scene were included. Tmonique loves writing flawed characters who reflect the emotional baggage we all carry. She writes complicated stories for complicated people. Hopefully, you will enjoy her efforts.
Tmonique Stephens was born in St. Thomas USVI, but she grew up in The Bronx, New York one mile from Yankee Stadium. She loves the SyFy and History channels, and Asian cuisine. But her heart and stomach longs for anything from the Caribbean. Have any Caribbean recipes out there? Please share! Her mother died before she had a chance to teach Caribbean cooking secrets.
Currently, Tmonique is working on an Egyptian God series. Why the Egyptian Gods, you ask? She challenges that with, “Why not?” All the other gods have been extensively covered, except the Egyptians. Undiscovered territory has always appealed to her.
Her debut novel, Eternity, is available now from Soulmate publishing. You can also find Eternity on Amazon and Barnes & Noble.
