Dark Wolf is the first in that series and you can read this as a stand alone, background information is provided so that anyone not familiar with Ms. Douglas' series Wolf Tales will still be able to read and appreciate the book.
Dark Wolf not only has a great romance forming through out it also has a dark mystery of who is the serial killer behind the murder and rape of several women and why do they want it to look like the work of the Chanku. Ms. Douglas does a fantastic job of setting the stage for her new series while giving us the back ground we need to understand the shapeshifting race known as the Chanku and at the same time cooks up a steaming hot helping of erotic paranormal romance. All of this is a tall order to fill and Ms. Douglas does an admiral job.
The Chanku have very large libidos and are very open about not only nudity but also there views about sex and relationships. This book contains sex scenes including f/f, m/m, m/m/f as well as m/f. We have menage, voyeurism and wolf sex (Chanku in their wolf forms having sex). So if you like your shifter romance on the hot and steamy side I think you will enjoy Dark Wolf and the new series that will follow.
