Gunship pilot Captain Candace Bradford has worked long and hard to earn her rank and position within the male-dominated world of Air Force Special Operations. She’s not about to let anything or anyone jeopardize that, let alone one sinfully tempting man who seems determined to cause her nothing but trouble. Even if she’s starting to fall for him.
As an elite Combat Controller, Staff Sergeant Ryan Wentworth is used to overcoming adversity in order to complete a mission. Breaking through Candace’s prickly exterior and into her heart is a challenge he can’t let go. But just when he’s begun to gain her trust, they’re thrown together in the field facing an overwhelming enemy force.
Candace and Ryan find themselves on the run, searching the skies for an emergency extraction. But one dangerous enemy has an agenda in mind and he’ll use whatever means necessary to achieve it, including using American forces to do his dirty work.

I want to thank Kaylea Cross for coming and sharing with us here today :O)

Why Military Romance?
I guess the simple answer is, because it’s awesome! I greatly admire our men and women in uniform, and I want to showcase what it is they’re doing out there in harm’s way. My Bagram Special Ops series focuses on heroes and heroines serving out of Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan.

I’ve always loved reading about military heroes, so I guess it’s no surprise I wanted to create some of my own when I began to write my own stories. I have a real obsession with military history, and somehow that segued into reading all about Special Ops teams. While doing research for another series, I stumbled upon two unique kinds of heroes I’d never heard of before: AFSOC’s Pararescue Jumpers (PJs), and Combat Controllers (CCTs). I was fascinated by these brave, selfless men who nobody talked much about, and so I decided to do make them the heroes of Bagram Special Ops series and I’m so glad I did!

Book one of the series, Deadly Descent, features a PJ hero and a female Black Hawk medevac pilot. Tactical Strike is the second book of the series and features a CCT hero and a female gunship pilot. Their story is unique in that they both serve in AFSOC. It was tricky to write the series featuring currently serving members of the military because relationships or hookups are strictly forbidden between them. They do happen of course, but I wanted to make it clear that the consequences could be severe for both parties involved if that kind of relationship was discovered.

As a result, all my characters have even more stress placed on them in this series, and in my opinion that just makes each story even better. I hope you enjoy them.

With 2 parts Military suspense and 1 part romance Tactical Strike is not your everyday military romance. Told from the point of view of not only the hero and the heroine but also the antagonist the suspense element takes the front seat in this story.

I found Tactical Strike to be a gripping read with great insight to the characters, not just the main characters either but we find out a great deal about the supporting cast. Candace is a women in a mans world and has not only that pressure but also the pressures of being an officer and from her family. Ryan is a man who has seen the dark side of life with his job in special forces but that doesn't stop him from being funny and charming.

Without sharing any spoilers I will tell you that I read the whole second half of this book in one sitting because I couldn't put it down. The only negative thing I found was that the jargon and the acronyms where thick and not explained as they came up, I did find that after I finished the book at the back there is a glossary of terms (I had my military geek husband to ask anything I needed to know however since I don't share its good for you to know the glossary is there)

We have thick sexual tension and chemistry and a bit of steam but as I said all of that is secondary to the more suspenseful aspects of the plot.
