The daughter of a dysfunctional family, Sadie had dreams no man could wrench from her with hot sex and an all-consuming passion. She’d challenge this alpha male with all the strength she possessed. But her red hair, fiery temperament, and indomitable spirit obsessed Brody...and he knew he had to find a way to show her he was more than he appeared and convince her to make a life with him.

Sweet Sexy Sadie is a quick read with a fun plot line, Sadie is researching the migration of butterflies for her thesis she meets Brody when her car overheats in the desert pretty soon the car isn't the only thing overheating. Sadie also has a stalker of a paranormal variety.

The action happens quick and without a lot of back story to have this come out novella length. I enjoyed the chemistry that is immediate between Brody and Sadie. I liked the paranormal element to her stalker and the bond that Sadie and Brody share to overcome the trials in their path to happiness.

This time of year with the kids in school you have lots of chances to sit and wait this is the perfect length book for those times and you can get in a fun love story while you are at it.

EXCERPT:

"It's dangerous out here." His speech was slow and his voice gravelly. The tone sent a shiver down Brody's spine.

Clad in black and riding a black stallion, the demon slayer rested one arm on the horn of his saddle. Tipping his hat back, he stared hard at Brody. Silence of the night engulfed them.

His square jawline and rugged features reminded Brody of a man who never settled down, one who chased sunrises. His body appeared lean and powerful, his stance intimidating a silver aura emanating from him. So still and solemn Brody wondered at his story.

"Dangerous everywhere." Brody didn't think he'd want to meet this man in a dark alley. He didn't know why, perhaps instinct, but Brody was sure the demon slayer was also a shifter.

"Seen that man over yonder, just a shadow now but he's real and treacherous." Slayer pointed behind him. "He's hunting a lady. Is that you, ma’am? If so, you need to take care."

The Slayer's question irritated Brody. At his sides his fists tightened. "Don't think that's any of your business. Maybe you should just ride on and not look back this way."

"It is if you want my help, but doesn't sound as if you do. I'm a friend." An owl cried out. Then as if in answer, a long low howl filled the silence.

To Brody the man appeared ready to unleash all the power he seemed to hold in check. "Can always use an extra pair of friendly hands." He tried to calm his breathing, but the pulse of the night set the pace. Blood surged through heated veins and the adrenalin rush was intoxicating. Brody was ready for a fight, but he needed to get Sadie somewhere safe.

"So, is the Chullachaqui after your woman?" Slayer pushed back his hat then gazed pointedly at Sadie. "She's a pretty one."

Body liked the sound of that. My woman. Sadie was his she just wouldn't admit it yet. But he also didn't like the way the demon slayer stared at her. "I don't know and that's the truth. We think he might be, but we don't know why. Besides, how do I know I can trust you?"

"Best you figure it out soon. He's gettin' closer. It's just a matter of time. I've been riding shotgun, and I've notice you've got a couple of friends backin' you up too. You're going to need them."

"Siblings." Brody felt the rise of anticipation. The fight would come. The only question was when. "Are they back there now?"

Mail Order Mayhem (Brides of Beckham #1) by Kirsten Osbourne

When Maude is told she must marry a repulsive man, she instead responds to an Iowa farmer who is looking for a mail order bride. After sneaking out of town on a train, she goes to Iowa and marries. She quickly falls for the wonderful man she marries, but does he feel the same? And will she be able to escape her past?

 photo Review.jpg

Mail Order Mayhem is the first in the Brides of Beckham series, this first book is more novella in length at around 100 pages and introduces us not only to the heroine (the mail order bride) Maude and the hero John but most importantly to Harrett Long the mysterious woman who runs the mail order bride service. Harrett is the constant in the series the rest of the books each are about new couples.

When Maude is to be married off to a man she can't stand and is twice her age she is despondent when she runs into Harrett at the post office it is like a sign or a gift that she has been given and quickly agrees to be a mail order bride for a farmer who needs a wife in Iowa.

When John's sister in law insists it is time he take a wife and should send for one through Harrett's mail order bride agency he is extremely pleased when he meets the beautiful Maude at the train.

This is a quick book that has a little heat, a couple of plot twists and some old fashion falling in love. At times the story is a lot like the inspirational romance novels but at the same time it does have some sexual content. I enjoyed the story enough that I have continued reading the series and each one though based on the idea of mail order brides is different and enjoyable in its own way.

Escape to My Arms‏ by Heather Thurmeier

What if The End is just the beginning?

Sara’s been preparing for this moment her whole life—she just never believed it would actually happen. With her bug-out bag and emergency food already in her truck, her only goal is to get to her family’s hidden bunker and wait out the pandemic that’s hit every major cruise ship port in the US. But her plan quickly falls apart. She’s out of gas, her route to the bunker is now a two-lane parking lot with no alternative in sight, and her only weapon is a pocketknife. For an experienced prepper, she’s made every rookie mistake.

Dane believes he’s safe in his cabin, off the beaten path and in the woods with his own source for water, electricity and an endless supply of food to hunt. After finding Sara stranded and alone, he’s suddenly not only providing for and protecting himself, but also the girl who wandered out of the woods and into his life. When looters come looking to take what he has, Sara and Dane’s only option is to make a run for their last hope—the bunker.

Can Sara and Dane find safety in each other’s arms and will they survive long enough to escape to a future together?

 photo Review.jpg

When an unknown virus starts to spread inward across the country from cruise ships pandemonium breaks out, good thing Sara Miller and her family were prepared in case something like this ever happened. To bad Sara forgot to fill her gas tank.

Dane Tyson has an isolated cabin that he feels safe in he has a small stockpile of weapons, canned goods and he can hunt for his meat. When he finds an SUV in the middle of his woods he is surprised to find the beautiful Sara hiding in the back. When she hurts her knee and has to stay with him for a couple of days the sexual tension rises.

I love the preppers tv shows and so a prepper romance like Escape to My Arms is right up my alley. I love that mixed into the love story and the post-apocalyptic world you can read some of the things that Dane and Sara have done to prepare for a break down of society. Dane and Sara have sexual attraction in spades but Sara has made a promise to her family never to reveal the preparations they have made for just such an occasion.

With Sara being a part of a prepper family and this the story of her journey to safety I am hopeful that we will get future stories of the rest of the family or maybe others like them. I enjoyed Escape to My Arms a great deal.

 photo Review.jpg

Kim Carmichael take the lost love storyline gives it a menage twist and throws in the magic of Madam Eve and her 1NightStand service to give you Interchangeable.

The premise for Interchangeable is fantastic and unique, with a series like the 1NightStand series coming up with something unique is an accomplishment. When Dahlia leaves Todd and Cooper taking with her all of the money for the business they were in together because she can't pick between them it hurts then makes them very angry but that was 5 years ago and now Todd and Cooper are wanting to work things out with Dahlia.

Interchangeable jumps right into the middle of the story (I would have been a bit lost if I hadn't read the blurb telling me what was going on). Todd and Cooper use Madame Eve to meet with Dahlia and the old sexual tension is present at once. This menage is one of the more tame ones I have read with the men taking turns and only a kinda M/M moment. The hardest part to this story was that it read like the history was assumed a lot of the time, for instance Cooper is upset and it is implied this is a hold over from the past but we have no point of reference. I liked the characters and I loved the premise it however it could have delivered so much more.

Excerpt:

“We want what you didn’t give us before.” Though he tried to appear casual, relaxed, Cooper’s jaw twitched, betraying his tension.
The money. No doubt the money. She took hold of the edge of the table, trying to stop her shaking. “What might that be?”
“The chance to know about the other.” He strummed his fingers on his knee.
Todd put a hand on her shoulder. “The chance to show you the difference.”
They didn’t mention anything about money. Her stomach twisted at the way Cooper stared her down as if daring her to say no, and she shifted her gaze to Todd.
His eyes remained clouded, half closed. The answer to her question came in the form of heat igniting between her thighs. She shifted in her seat. What were they offering, a challenge, a choice, or her ultimate fantasy?
“What if I say no?”
Neither man answered.
One night with them. Her mind screeched to a halt. Instead of her dream, she pictured tomorrow morning, getting back on a plane to South America, returning to the small marketing consulting gigs that barely paid her rent, and spending her nights waiting to be found out. She needed to locate her spine and get what she truly needed out of the night. “One night and we part?”
Todd moved in closer. “Isn’t this what you always wanted?”
Yes, that was everything she wanted and planned for five years ago. Of course, back then it wasn’t one night, it was forever.
Wait, she couldn’t want. Her wants didn’t count.
What she needed was to get up in the morning without a bulls-eye on her back.
She licked her lips. “No repercussions or retaliation?” They both knew her well and understood her question.
Silence. Even the waves seemed to stop.
At last, they both nodded.
She took a breath. When she walked away tomorrow, she’d make sure she didn’t replace the bull’s-eye with a heart broken beyond repair, and haunting memories.
Decision made, she pushed her chair back, and stood. “Did you get a room?”
Rather than living her fantasy, she would give them theirs and take nothing more from them. No enjoyment, no dreams, not one more thing.
Maybe she’d walk away with something she hadn’t had in years.
Peace.

A guy has to follow the buddy code, or face the consequences. Still, sometimes giving in to temptation is worth it...
CONTENT WARNING: Racy Language, Hot Sex, Lusty Latin Lovers A Lyrical Press Contemporary Romance

 photo Review.jpg

Kayla Martinez has been in love with Nico LaCosta since she was 13 and he was 16 and she had a mind blowing kiss from him during a game of spin the bottle. To bad her overprotective brother Jess had to threaten Nico to back of or else.

Kayla is 24 now and when Nico comes into the ER she works at as a nurse she sets a plan in motion to have Nico once and for all.
Nico is a carefree bachelor and likes it that way he isn't ready for a relationship but when little Kayla shows up at his house all grown up in all the right ways he finds he may have to re-evaluate his lifestyle.

The Right Temptation is a novella length book with a ton of sexual tension and some pretty hot latin love scenes. Its a cute story of a teenage crush revisited and it would be a good length to read poolside or when you get a little me time. I found it seems to rush but that is a problem inherent in many novella length books.

The Right Temptation
Excerpt

Kayla ambled to the kitchen. She opened the refrigerator and perused it. Not bad. He had a few things she could work with. “What do you normally eat?”
“Grilled chicken, brown rice and broccoli,” he said without missing a beat.
Kayla laughed at his bland regimen. “I had a feeling.”
“Well, I try to take care of my body.”
“So I see.” Her gaze skittered over his physique. Whatever he did worked magically delicious.
“Although lately, I’ve been pigging out like a fat kid,” he said, with a disgusted look. “That’s what happens when you’re bored to death.”
She had a cure for his restlessness. The thought made her thighs go up in flames. Kayla shoved her head inside the cool refrigerator and peered into several plastic containers. “Some of this looks good.” She could’ve taken the easy way out, but she preferred to make something fresh, show off a little bit.
“It is. But I had so much of it already.” He puffed out his cheeks.
How adorable. She found everything he did entertaining. Kayla shut the fridge and, without asking, opened the cupboards. She found one with canned goods and food staples. “Hmm,” she mumbled, scanning the contents. She’d have to improvise. “You like omelets?”
Nico’s face lit up. “I love me some eggs.”
“Cool. I’ll whip up some veggie omelets.”
“You don’t have to cook for me, you know.”
She had a weakness for nursing people back to health. She had a weakness for one man named Nico. The combination of the two pulled on her heartstrings. “I want to,” she said, setting aside her personal agenda.
“Don’t you have something better to do than hang out with an invalid? I’m not a barrel of laughs right now.”
Good time to gauge his interest. She locked eyes on him. “Why? You want me to leave?”
“It’s not that,” he said. Nico strode to the kitchen. He took one of her long curls and tugged on it. “I just don’t want you to waste your free time.”
She wanted to close her eyes, bottle his woodsy scent. Kayla palmed his solid chest. The touch sent a shocking bolt through her already-charged system. She kept her hand there, reveling in the feel of his potent masculinity. “Who says I’m wasting my time?”
Nico closed the space between them. Too bad his bulky cast kept their bodies from totally connecting. Several inches taller, he stared down at her with pure intensity. The heat level shot up so fast she thought they’d set off the smoke alarm in the kitchen. Kayla titled her head back and shook her wild curls off her face. He helped by sliding a few fingers into her hair. Her heart practically jumped out of her chest. Kiss me. She’d waited years for this.
His body trapped her against the counter. Kayla shifted her position so she could feel the full force of his strength without the barrier of his injured arm. Oh God. He had an erection. Her hip acted alone and pressed up against it. She swore she heard him moan. Wait. That was her.
“Kayla,” he muttered, in a voice huskier than before.
Kiss me. She tried to send a telepathic message.

NetGalley Review: The Demon Lovers Boxed Set by Kate Douglas

Unsure if they are real or a figment of her imagination, she reaches out and unleashes an erotic hunger like none she's ever known. But these men need more from her than just erotic pleasure. They are demon hunters, and the attack on Addie in the park has made her one of them.

Together the three will forge an erotic and loving relationship while tirelessly fighting the demonic threat to humanity.

This boxed set contains the complete Demon Lovers series, as serialized in Unbalanced, Unbound, Unmasked, Unleashed, and Undaunted.

*** This books also includes bonus material from Dark Wolf, the first book in the Spirit Wild series, and Dream Unchained, the second book in the Dream Catchers series ***

 photo Review.jpg

The Demon Lovers Boxed Set is 5 novella length books in a boxed set, it allows you to have the whole story in one place I love that :O) It appeals to my little OCD heart.

What do you do when you are attacked and bitten by a dying woman then wake up with two of the hottest men you have ever seen looking at you and telling you it is your job to keep them from killing each other. Well if you are Addie Logan you jump into the job with both feet and not only do your job as the fulcrum and fellow demon hunter to Jett and Locan but you also show them that they don't hate one another they really just want to have sex with each other.

The Demon Lovers series is funny, sexy and an unique take on the demons and pop culture. Make no mistake this is erotic romance there is going to be a LOT of sex.(I don't think that is a negative at all) I found that it did take into second book before I felt the story line running as smoothly as I would have liked but it does move fast and the whole boxed set can be read in a reasonable amount of time.

I loved the secondary characters in the later books they add another layer to the story and provide humor and a bit of mystery.
